Kitchen display
The screen the kitchen actually works from.
The kitchen display is a full-screen view that shows live orders as cards and nothing else. Cooks get it through the kitchen app scope; the COOK role has that and almost nothing else, which is the point.
#How it works
Orders appear as soon as they are ready to cook and move through a fixed sequence. Each card advances with one tap, and Restro rejects any move that is not the next legal step:
pending → confirmed → preparing → ready → completed
#Rounds
At a table, guests order in waves. Each wave is a round — the lines sent to the kitchen at one moment. The kitchen display groups by round so a table's second round of drinks is not mixed into the first round's mains.
#Scheduled orders
Pre-orders do not sit in the live queue all day. They wait in a Scheduled for later panel above the tickets and drop into the queue at the lead time set for the branch. See scheduled orders.
#Branch scoping
Cooks only see orders for branches they are assigned to. A cook with no branch assignment sees nothing, which is usually the cause of an empty screen on a new account.
#Notes and special requests
Order-level notes and per-line special requests both surface on the card. If an item's special requests are turning into a problem, turn allow special requests off on that item.
